Yesterday the Ministry of Finance released details about Ontario’s pre-budget consultations. Similar to last year, the province is launching a series of consultations called “Budget Talks.” In particular the government is looking for information about how it can improve public services, support an innovative business environment, build and revitalize public infrastructure, and better invest in talent and skills.
During last year’s consultations over 300,000 Ontarians submitted comments. Those interested in submitting feedback to the Ministry of Finance this year have until January 31st to do so. Comments can be submitted through a variety of methods, including:
- Sending an email to submissions@ontario.ca
- Tweeting ideas using the hashtag #BudgetTalks
- Mailing The Honourable Charles Sousa

Municipalities and other interested stakeholders can also submit comments to the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs by February 2nd. The committee will also be holding consultations in Hamilton, Ottawa, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, Toronto and Windsor during the weeks of January 18 and February 1, 2016.
