Mowat and CSI partner on New Report – How to Design a Basic Income Pilot Project

In June, the province announced the appointment the Honourable Hugh Segal to provide advice on the design and implementation of a Basic Income Pilot in Ontario which arose from the 2016 Budget.  While Mr. Segal is expected to deliver a discussion paper, the Mowat Centre in collaboration with the Centre for Social Innovation partnered to produce a report that takes a look at the research and examines how a basic income could impact entrepreneurship, innovation and society’s relationship to work. Through analyses of past experiments and the current context, this report puts forward recommendations on how Ontario could best design a basic income pilot project.
