Today the federal and provincial governments announced a bilateral agreement that will see the federal government provide $1.49 million in transit funding for projects in Ontario. The federal funding will be combined with money from the provincial government for a total of more than $2.97 billion in combined funding for transit projects in Ontario. Toronto, Ottawa, Barrie, Waterloo and Sudbury are slated to host the first projects approved under this envelope. You can find a full list of approved projects here.
The transit funding agreement announced today is the first phase of the federal government’s $60-billion infrastructure funding plan to help pay for projects across the country over the next ten years.
