Government Conducting Consultations on New Birth Certificate

The Ministry of Government and Consumer Services is looking for feedback on a proposal to establish a new Ontario birth certificate. The proposal would amend Regulation 1094 under the Vital Statistics Act to create a new birth certificate that would add one or both of the following to the information already contained on a birth certificate:

  • the names and places of birth for the parent(s) of the person named on the certificate; or
  • the name(s) of the parent(s) of the person named on the certificate, if the Registrar General does not have a record of the place where the parent(s) was(were) born.

The proposal is open for comments until July 29, 2016. You can find more information about this proposal here.
