Yesterday the federal and provincial government’s announced $640 million of new money for affordable housing in Ontario. Though details on how the money will be allocated are not yet available, newly appointed Ontario Minister of Housing Chris Ballard said that the federal government is leaving those decisions to the province:
“We’re looking at working closely with municipal partners and service providers…We’re looking at badly needed maintenance on old stock, new stock and facilities for women and families facing domestic abuse. So there is a wide range on how it can be spent.”
Of the total, $168 million is provincial funding, and $473 comes from the province.
