CAO Survey Report Released

A new report, released yesterday by StrategyCorp, explores the results of a survey of 25 Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs) from upper and lower tier municipal governments across Ontario. The report argues that it is time to reflect on the adequacy of the definition of Chief Administrative Officer as it is currently set out in the Municipal Act, and not abandon the goal of a better statutory mandate for CAOs. The report also identifies the top priorities of CAOs, including fiscal sustainability, public engagement/issues management, performance management and linking economic developing to the financing of infrastructure.
