Ombudsman’s Office Getting New Resources for Bill 8

The Office of the Ontario Ombudsman is in the midst of a significant expansion of both budget and staff as it prepares for its new oversight responsibilities under Bill 8. The office’s staff will grow by 50 people, while the organization’s budget will increase by $7.2 million dollars.

  1. You may wish to revisit your numbers. A 50-person increase in staffing from 86 to 136 represents a 58% increase in staffing, not 37%. And a budget increase of $7.2 million from $11.4 million to $18.6 million is a 63% increase, not 39%.If you’re calculating percentage increase, it must be calculated as a percentage of the original number, not as a percentage of the final number.
